Self taught painter born in Valdivia,Chile, in 1919.
The artist felt a true and deep love for his home land,
Valdivia. This love is visible in all his artworks.
Most of the time his main subject is his city,
its river and its countryside.
He achieves a real Master Level in the watercolor technique .
His artworks are always harmonics and elegants,
some of them with beautiful transparencies,
but, overall, loaded with poetry
.
In representation of Chile, his artworks travelled
trough all Europe,
the United States and South America.
He was always rewarded with excellent critic
and general praises
He died in 1993.
By then, Ricardo Andwanter was considered as
"The Best Countryside Painter of Chile
in the Watercolor Art".
