Born in Iquique, north of Chile.
He graduated as Professor Primary Teacher.
As a creator artist he has been dedicated to the technique of the Watercolor.
As a teacher he has been a professor of Plastic Arts in the colleges "Domingo Faustino Sarmiento", of Santiago, and in that of Viña del Mar. Also he has performed the teaching in the Scuola Italian of Valparaíso, in the Schools SS.CC French Nuns of Valparaíso and of Viña del Mar, and in other prestigious establishments of the Fifth Region of Chile.
He has been a professor investigator of the Childlike Plastic Expression, and he has dictated numerous seminars
and educational conferences all over the country.
Arévalo Silva is an artist of a long path, widely recognized
because his artistic talent as by his educational work.
His composition is intelligent and his brushstroke is flowed and sure.
His exhibitions are always a trip through Chile.
His subject matter is of a such diversity that make us to rise and to descend the hills of Valparaíso, to sail in the schooners of Chiloé, to rest and to meditate in a rural dusk, with the same facility with which he made us think with his themes of daily life or to enjoy the fragrance of a branch of flowers.
It was difficult for him his decision to abandon the teaching, but the color,
the light, the creativity and the passion by the Watercolor were too strong.
His works are unmistakable; they have personality, and a very own style.
Perhaps his educational condition is always present in his watercolors when he teaches us to discover the beauty, the value of our surrounding , and to enjoy the work of a creative artist.
At present, besides painting every day, he performs like Watercolor Professor in the Faculty of the Arts of the University of Playa Ancha, Valparaíso, and in the San Ignacio School of Viña del Mar.
Teaching continues to be his second passion.
He counts with numerous exhibitions
so much collectives as individuals.
In his last Exhibition,(April, year 2009) named "45 years in the watercolor", held at the Municipal Hall of Arts of Viña del Mar, the University of Playa Ancha of Valparaíso, Chile, prized him for his extensive and noticeable artistic work.
According to words of Jorge Salomó, Manager of the Cultural Corporation of Viña del Mar, his works are qualified as "outstandings by the quality with which he applies his watered down, the ones that with subtlety, but also with much of character, they print a certain vision of the landscape that the artist transforms in the central motive of his works.His exhibitions delight us for the cleaning of the color and the neatness of the drawing. Watercolor is an art of a great skill demand, it doen't allow touches or subsequent modifications".
His works are collected for lovers of the art
Of different countries of the world.
At present, he is considered one
of the best chilean watercolorist.
