His full name was Carlos Pelikan Rotter.
Born in Lautaro, South of Chile.
Son of Austrian parents.
He begins his plastic art studies in Vienna.
He returns to Chile in 1937.
Since 1950 up to date, he adopted the
sea like his main pictoric subject.
He has accomplished numerous individual and
collective exhibitions troughout all of Chile.
In 1984, he presents three of his marines paintings in
the "Marine Artistic Exhibitions" in London.
Because the excellence of these, he was invited to be
"Member of the Royal Society of Marine Painters".
He has been recognized as one of
the best sea-scape painter of Chile.
His paintings are found in particular collections,
the same as in collections of
Chilean and foreign Shipping Companies.
In 1993, supported by the Republic
of the Germany Embassy,
he pressented a great retrospective of his artwork untitled
" 50 years painting the sea ", in the Hall of Art
at the Cultural Corporation of Viña del Mar, Chile.
He died recently(2002).
