Christian  Jequel
Galeria de Arte Marpau - information - espaņol

From early childhood, Christian Jequel could only conceive
of expressing himself with a pencil in his hand.
From his very first sketches he was captivated by movement;
that is to say the trace of life left in space.

Born on January 16, 1935, in Ganges, in the Cevennes region
of France, he grew up with the subjects of his paintings
already around him,
in the surrounding country life and rural scenes.
His principle aim is to express all that lives and breaths around him.

It is Jequel's mastering of color and its placement
that has won him high favor.
A whole range of scintillating effects can be observed:
shimmering skies, bristling haytacks, vibrant lavendar fields,
coarsely spun clothing and etched faces.
At the same time he offers us the illusion of motion:
horses galloping, water splashing, workers harvesting,
musicians playing.

In 1960 Jequel had his first exhibition. He was later selected
for the prestigious Salon des Peintres Temoins de leur Temps".
He was invited to the Salon Comparison and to the
National Society of Fine Art Exhibition at the
Grand Palais in Paris.
From 1985 to the present he has had one-man exhibition
in the nayor cities of france and has participated
in numerous joint exhibitions in cities throughout the world.
The French television station FR3 has broadcast
two special programs featuring Jequel.
One presenting a portrait of the artist
and the other a live broadcast of the artist at work.
