Alfredo  Lobos

Chilean painter.
Born in Rancagua in 1890.
Dies in Madrid, Spain, in 1917.

As an artist he belongs to the
artistic movement known as
The Generation of the Forties.

He comes fron an artist family.
They were three brothers, all of them,
great and famous painters.
Also, all of them, they died very young.

In 1916, he travelled to Spain.
Because of a very bad sickness,
he dies on the eve of an Exhibition of his works
in the Gallery "El Ateneo" in Madrid.

Alfredo Lobos's painting style is a realist one.
The strengh of his artistic expression is joined to
a delicate color and design.
He was the painter who first started with
the colonial subjects, old houses, huge carved front doors
and beautiful and colorfull rural landscapes.
He also painted houses and towns from
Castilla and Andalucia.(Spain)

1913......Landscape Prize. Edwards Contest, Santiago, Chile.
1914......First Medal, Salón de Bellas Artes, Santiago, Chile.
